Kyiv has moved on to developing a defense strategy that mimics the tactics Russia used in Zaporizhzhia to stop last year's counteroffensive of the Armed Forces, writes El Mundo.
The Spanish publication spoke in the Orichov region with the Ukrainian military , who are already engaged in the creation of defense fortifications. According to them, the construction of the second line of defense is already underway.
"This is not a continuous line, like the Russian one. We are setting up defensive points on the heights," one of the Ukrainian soldiers told the newspaper.
At the same time, one of the sappers complained that in matters of demining, their capabilities are seriously inferior to the Russian ones.
"We put one (mine) every 60 meters. They install up to 10 per square meter," he said.
As El Mundo emphasizes, although Zelenskyi and his advisers refuse to publicly admit that any hypothetical offensive plan of the Ukrainian army depends on another large batch of aid from Kyiv's allies, it can be clearly said that both in the north and in the southeast, the troops have received the only order: "hold the line".
"We cannot continue the offensive. The Russian army is no longer the same as in 2022," admitted the former president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.
Russia has an advantage not only in the number of soldiers, but also in aviation, artillery, EW means, as well as in the number of drones. The combination of reconnaissance drones "Orlan-10" and attack drones "Lancet" became a serious challenge for Kyiv . Especially since the production capacity of unmanned aerial vehicles in Russia exceeds 100,000 per month, while in Ukraine, according to experts, they do not even reach half of this figure.
At the same time, Western aid to Ukraine has sharply decreased. The Kiel Institute for World Economics (Germany) estimated that between August and October last year, this reduction reached 90% compared to 2022.
