According to Volodymyr Paniotto, Director General of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, the worst-case scenario of war with Russia involves a significant reduction in Ukraine's population to 25 million people.
This statement was made in the context of an analysis of the demographic and social consequences of the long war.
"The demographic situation here is very bad. At the same time, the number of those killed at the front is incomparable with the number of those who went abroad and do not plan to return," he said.
According to him, the number of those killed at the front is incomparable to the number of those who went abroad and do not plan to return. In addition, Paniotto noted that every month 100-150 thousand people leave Ukraine irrevocably.
As the sociologist noted, in the worst-case scenario, 25 million Ukrainians could remain in Ukraine after the end of hostilities, but "the exact timing of the end of the war cannot be predicted, so the figure could increase significantly." Paniotto also added that after the hostilities and the predicted new wave of emigration, Ukraine will attract labor from third world countries.
