Ukraine has the right to strike deep into the territory of the Russian Federation using its own weapons and does not need the approval of other states for this. However, the issue of using Western weapons for long-range strikes against Russia remains under consideration. This was stated by the US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
Matthew Miller emphasized that Ukraine has the full right to decide how to use its weapons for defense and counterattack, including strikes on Russian targets. He also noted that over the past year, Ukraine has been actively developing its defense programs.
“Ukraine can use its weapons to strike Russian targets on the border, from where attacks on Ukrainian territory are being carried out,” Miller noted.
Regarding the use of long-range Western weapons to strike deep-sea targets in Russia, the State Department spokesman noted that this issue is still under discussion. He added that the United States continues to explore additional options for providing Ukraine with the necessary tools for defense.
A decision on the possible lifting of restrictions on the use of American weapons for long-range strikes against Russia may be made after the upcoming US presidential elections.
