Ukraine creates new agency to regulate gambling

The Government of Ukraine has adopted a decision according to which the Ministry of Digital Transformation will shape gambling policy. This decision provides for the creation of a new agency that will replace the current Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (CRAIL).

The new structure will be responsible for the transparency and efficiency of the gambling market in Ukraine. In particular, the Ministry of Digital Transformation plans to determine technical requirements for digital systems for the gambling business, control the process of their development, and monitor the use of funds received by the agency.

One of the key changes will be the automation of processes - instead of the traditional sending stacks of documents by mail to KRAL, gambling operators will submit documents online. The ministry also announced new requirements for obtaining a gambling license, including no tax debt, impeccable reputation, and no ties to Russia. In case of receiving two fines, the license will be canceled.
