The Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively forming several new brigades, but delays in the delivery of military equipment from Western partners are causing serious problems with equipping these units, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in the United States reported.
Ukraine continues to grapple with temporary challenges in forming new military units, they said, but shortages and delays in Western arms and equipment deliveries could complicate its ability to fully equip these brigades. According to analysts, timely security support from the West remains critical, determining the timing and scale of Ukrainian forces’ readiness for future military operations.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted an improvement in the situation of Ukrainian troops, but emphasized that the success of future counteroffensive operations depends on the proper equipment of combat units with heavy combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, tanks, and artillery.
According to ISW analysts, rapid and regular provision of necessary equipment and weapons from Western partners is critically important for reducing Ukraine's vulnerability to possible Russian aggressive actions and helps Ukrainian forces focus on future defensive operations.
