Ukraine gave its consent to Poland to search for and exhume the victims of the Volyn tragedy

Ukraine and Poland have reached an agreement that allows the Polish side to search for and exhume the remains of the victims of the Volyn tragedy on the territory of Ukraine. This decision was an important step in the context of the historic reconciliation between the two countries.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Radoslav Sikorskyi after a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga, the RAR agency reports.

"Each family has the right to honor the memory of their ancestors with dignity, and within the framework of a joint Ukrainian-Polish working group under the auspices of the ministries of culture of both countries, we are working on practical mechanisms for carrying out search and exhumation work," said the leader of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Earlier it was reported that Poland intends to make the solution of the "Volyn" issue one of the conditions of Ukrainian European integration.
