Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited Kharkiv to sign an agreement on cooperation in the field of defense and protection against armed aggression by Russia. The agreements provide for increasing Ukraine's resilience through continued provision of security assistance and modern military equipment. The agreement also includes strengthening the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, implementing NATO concepts and operational procedures, joint exercises and increasing interoperability with NATO member states.
The Netherlands has pledged to provide Ukraine with €2 billion in military support in 2024 to strengthen its defense capabilities. It also plans to transfer 22 military patrol boats and three CB90 ships from the Dutch police and border guard.
In addition, the Netherlands indicated its readiness to participate in the recovery and reconstruction of the Ukrainian economy, in particular, in the development of entrepreneurship, encouraging investment in "green" technologies and digital transformation, as well as in countering non-military threats, including cyber measures and the protection of critical infrastructure.
