Ukraine is actively negotiating a meeting in the Ramstein format with the participation of state leaders, including US President Joe Biden. This was stated by People's Deputy Yegor Chernev, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, on the air of a national telethon.
“I know that negotiations are underway so that Ramstein can still take place at the highest level of state leaders. But to a greater extent, it depends on the position of the White House, whether Biden is ready or able to come to Europe by the end of his term, by the end of the year. Negotiations are underway,” Chernev said.
He noted that now Ramstein performs more of a coordination function and between meetings, there is still 24/7 coordination between states.
The meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the "Ramstein" format, which was scheduled for October 12 in Germany and was to be held with the participation of US President Joe Biden, was postponed due to a hurricane in the US.
The head of the planning staff and the special group on Ukraine of the German Ministry of Defense, Major General Christian Freuding, reported that an additional meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues in Ukraine (in the Ramstein format) may be held in December, one of the options being negotiations at the highest level.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated that the next meeting in the Ramstein format in December will discuss military assistance to Ukraine.
