Due to martial law, Ukraine will introduce new restrictions for men aged 18 to 60 who have dual citizenship. This decision is aimed at increasing national security and strengthening the country's mobilization readiness in difficult times.
This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Demchenko emphasized that according to Ukrainian legislation, dual citizenship is not recognized, therefore all citizens of Ukraine, regardless of the presence of other passports, are considered only as Ukrainians. They are subject to all rights and obligations, including restrictions introduced in connection with martial law.
"The formulation that Ukrainians with dual citizenship will now not be allowed to leave the country can be considered incorrect. I emphasize once again that dual citizenship is not allowed in Ukraine," he noted.
Demchenko noted that the changes in the legislation are aimed at strengthening border control. Border guards have identified cases where Ukrainians tried to pass themselves off as foreigners during passport control, which is illegal and punishable under current legislation. This emphasizes the importance of adhering to the country's rules and laws, especially in times of war.
The introduction of new restrictions on men's travel abroad is a strategic step to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. The government calls on all citizens to adhere to established rules and laws to ensure order and security in the country during this difficult period.
