The Danish Ministry of Defense has said that Ukraine can expect to receive its first F-16 fighter jets this summer. The information was confirmed after a meeting at which a report was heard on the number of aircraft, their delivery dates, as well as the preparation of infrastructure and personnel for their operation.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that although the exact schedule for the transfer of the F-16 fighters has not yet been set, they are working to make it happen this summer if all conditions are met as planned. He also emphasized that one of the conditions is the full training of Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel, as well as the availability of the necessary infrastructure in Ukraine.
During the Ramstein meeting on February 14, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that everything is on schedule within the framework of all agreements with partners, and that the F-16s are expected in the spring. It should be noted that Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte also announced the possible shipment of F-16s "on schedule", emphasizing that their receipt in this timeframe is realistic.
The arrival of Western fighter jets in Ukraine could significantly change the situation on the battlefield , as, according to Ukrainian authorities, Russia has “complete superiority in the sky” over the occupied territories. This could be an important step in supporting the Ukrainian military in the fight against Russian aggression.
