President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his speech at the Ukrainian Youth Forum-2025, stated that the adoption of the law on multiple citizenship is an important stage in the development of the state and strengthening ties with Ukrainians abroad.
" Multiple citizenship is an important law that the Ukrainian parliament adopted. The law exists, the law is correct ," the head of state emphasized.
According to the president, the next step will be to determine the list of states with which Ukraine will primarily implement the new provisions. Priority will be given to those countries where a large Ukrainian diaspora lives and which actively support Kyiv during a full-scale war with Russia.
" We understand who our closest friends are - these are the countries of the European Union, where most of our Ukrainians are, and also the United States of America ," Zelenskyy noted.
He clarified that it is the government that will form and publish the official list of states with which the provisions of the law will apply. It is expected that the list will include partner countries that have already provided large-scale political, financial, and military support to Ukraine.
This step is intended to make it easier for Ukrainians abroad to maintain ties with their homeland and stimulate their participation in the restoration of the state after the war.
