The first toll roads will appear in Ukraine. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Serhiy Derkach. The introduction of such a format is one of the requirements of the European Union for the country's integration into the common transport system.
A draft law has already been drafted. Six main routes are being considered, and the traffic intensity on them is being studied.
"The issue of toll roads is an EU requirement. We are talking to investors, there are agreements with the EIB (European Investment Bank). Sooner or later, there will be toll roads anyway," Derkach said.
He did not specify whether existing roads would become toll roads or whether new ones would be built.
