According to the Chief of Aviation of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergey Golubtsov, the Russian occupiers often use guided aerial bombs due to the rearmament process in Russia. He noted that Ukraine is also working on creating its own guided aerial bombs based on conventional free-falling ones, including the selection of the wing, GPS module, and control module.
The first tests of Ukrainian guided bombs are due to begin in a few weeks. The Ukrainian armed forces use Western-made bombs, such as the GBU-39 and GBU-62, of various calibers and types of warheads. Golubtsov stressed that the effectiveness of these bombs is impressive, especially when they manage to get through Russian air defense systems.
He explained that the Ukrainian Air Force uses weapons received from partners, but a limited number of these weapons are delivered to them. Despite this, there are already enough converted aircraft to assess the effectiveness of the weapons and place orders for further supplies.
