The Armed Forces of Ukraine will begin testing domestically produced guided aerial bombs (GABs) in just a few weeks.
This was stated by the Chief of Aviation of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Golubtsov. He noted that work is currently underway to re-equip and create modified aerial bombs based on conventional free-falling ones.
Serhiy Golubtsov explained that these bombs have certain design aspects: it is necessary to select a wing, a GPS module, and a control module.
“In a few weeks we should begin the first tests of the first batches of such bombs, already Ukrainian,” Golubtsov added.
According to him, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine currently uses Western-made bombs: GBU-39, GBU-62 of various calibers. Golubtsov also reported that at the moment the Armed Forces of Ukraine use from 100 to 300 high-precision foreign bombs per month, while Russia uses 3,000 per month.
Russia strikes Ukrainian civilian infrastructure every day, using, among other things, guided aerial bombs. Over three thousand of these CBMs arrive in Ukraine every month. In May alone, Russia dropped 3.2 thousand of these shells on our country.
