Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsia, stated that Ukraine seeks an end to the full-scale war, but will not accept peace at any price. He emphasized that the concept of "peace at any price" will not lead to lasting peace and will only serve as an incentive for the aggressor to continue violating international law.
Kyslytsia noted that the implementation of the concept of “peace through force” is the only effective way to stop the aggressor and ensure a just and lasting peace in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter. According to him, the diplomatic path to peace is possible only through the implementation of the “Peace Formula” presented by Ukraine.
Ukraine is ready to consider peace initiatives from other countries, but only if they take into account the restoration of the country's territorial integrity, are based on the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine" and do not equate the victim with the aggressor.
Kyslytsia also emphasized Russia's geopolitical ambitions, which he believes are not limited to Ukraine. He emphasized that the Kremlin's ultimatum to return NATO to its 1997 borders is evidence of these ambitions. Kyslytsia added that countries that have become members of the Alliance since then should remember this.
These statements were made against the backdrop of discussion of peace negotiations regarding Ukraine, in particular in the context of statements by former US President Donald Trump, who believes that the war could end in a few months, but is closing the door to NATO for Ukraine.
