Ukraine is building a strong defense system along the entire front line, including the northwestern regions adjacent to the border with Belarus, as the threat currently arises from Russia and Belarus. This was stated by Yegor Chernev, a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, a deputy from the Servant of the People party.
“We are building fortifications along the entire line, because we understand that the territory of Belarus can be used against us, as was already the case on February 24. These lines are being built according to all military standards. Moreover, this is not one line of defense, but several. These are not just trenches or trenches, these are truly fortifications,” Chernev emphasized.
He pointed out that Ukraine is currently facing a threat from Russia and Belarus, even though Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko refuses to admit his own involvement and claims that other forces have taken advantage of his territory.
“This is a pretty loud call for our NATO partners, in particular for the Baltic countries. He can also tell them, they say, I didn’t attack you. The Russian Federation simply used my territory,” the Verkhovna Rada deputy said.
It is important to note that, according to the British newspaper The Telegraph, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have begun construction of a significant defensive line system aimed at stopping a possible Russian invasion. The main defensive line is located 15-25 kilometers from Avdiivka, the main city on the front in eastern Ukraine, and the degree of fortification of Ukraine's northern borders is currently 63%.
