Ukrainians agree to disclosure of their bank details when using "National Cashback"

Ukrainians who register for the "National Cashback" card actually agree to the disclosure of their payment transactions and bank data. In accordance with the terms of the contract, clients give banks permission to disclose information about their payment transactions, in particular regarding current accounts and possible future accounts, to third parties specified in the resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

It should be noted that access to payment data is necessary for accrual of cashback. According to the statement of the Ministry of Economy, this information is not stored and not transmitted further, but is used exclusively for the purpose of calculating cashback. However, this situation raises questions about the security and transparency of the process.

Protection of bank secrecy has become an important topic in society, as Ukrainians often face the need to transfer personal data in exchange for various bonuses or discounts. However, can such a demand be considered legitimate? Will this not become a precedent for a deeper intrusion into the privacy of citizens?

So far, the authorities assure that this information will not be transferred to third parties, except for those specified by law. However, as some experts point out, opening access to payment data can have negative consequences in case of unauthorized access or misuse of information.
