The European Union on Wednesday approved a plan to use proceeds from investing in frozen Russian assets in Europe to purchase weapons for Ukraine. However, Ukrainian Justice Minister Denys Malyuska expressed doubts that the funds, estimated at €3 billion, would be sufficient for the country's needs, Politico reports.
"When it comes to Ukraine's needs and the needs in terms of the conflict, both military and non-military, three million euros is actually almost nothing. To win the war, we need hundreds of billions," Malyuska said in an interview with the publication.
The Ukrainian minister also noted that Kyiv wants the EU to completely confiscate Russian assets.
“The Ukrainian government would very much like to obtain full confiscation [of Russian assets] and is truly convinced that this step will be legal and is the only approach that will have a decisive impact on the outcome of the war,” he said.
