Ukraine has introduced new rules for military registration, according to which even people who are considered completely unfit for service are no longer removed from the register. This happened after the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine issued a corresponding order in October 2024, which caused a wide resonance in society.
According to information provided by military lawyer Darya Golodnyak , the changes in the registration rules apply not only to individuals who were previously eligible for discharge due to health reasons, but also to those who are considered unfit for military service for various reasons. Now, even people who have serious medical contraindications or other legal grounds for discharge will remain on the register.
Previously, the category of "unfit for service with exclusion from military registration" allowed conscripts with serious diagnoses to be completely excluded from the registry. Now this status has been abolished and is called simply "Unfit for service" - without exclusion from the registry.
This order also established that the total period for conducting medical examinations should not exceed 4 days. If there is a need for additional tests to clarify the state of health, the period may be extended by no more than 14 days.
