Ukraine announced additional mobilization: more than 160,000 people will join the ranks of the Armed Forces by February 2025

In Ukraine, they announced plans to strengthen the ranks of the Armed Forces with an additional prize of more than 160,000 people. According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Lytvynenko, this allows for additional staffing of military units by 85%. A decision was made about the ongoing war with Russia and the need to increase the number of troops to ensure the country's defense capability. Mobilization, according to the decision of the Verkhovna Rada, will be extended until February 2025.

"Regarding the parameters of mobilization. A total of 1,50,000 citizens were drafted into the Defense Forces. It is planned to recruit over 160,000 people. This will ensure additional staffing of military units up to 85%," said Lytvynenko.

At today's meeting, the Verkhovna Rada supported the extension of the general mobilization for 90 days, i.e. until February 7, 2025.

The Minister of Defense of the country stated that territorial recruitment centers and law enforcement agencies of Ukraine will be able to exchange data through an electronic system in order to more effectively search for people who evade service in the ranks of the Armed Forces.

In September 2024, Zelensky stated that Ukraine planned to equip 14 new military brigades through foreign aid packages, but it did not work out - not even four.
