The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine is actively working on creating a register of producers of industrial hemp, which will include information on the volumes of cultivation. This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky.
The initiative is aimed at streamlining the circulation of cannabis in the medical, industrial, and scientific spheres, and is taking place within the framework of draft law No. 7457. It is noted that work on the registry and sampling regulations began even before the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed the corresponding draft law.
Vysotsky stressed that the creation of a register of producers of industrial hemp aims to ensure transparency in the field of cultivation, determine the volumes and use of seeds. In addition, he emphasized that producers will not be required to obtain licenses or separate permits for cultivation, and the government is also preparing a resolution on the regulations for sampling hemp during flowering.
In December 2023, the parliament adopted in the second reading Bill No. 7457 “On the Regulation of the Circulation of Plants of the Hemp Genus (Cannabis) for Medical, Industrial Purposes, Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities”.
The main goal of this document is to simplify the procedures for the medical use of medicines containing cannabis, as well as to task the government with expanding the list of medical preparations based on this plant.
