Ukraine seeks to receive MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance drones from the United States

According to Politico, Ukraine is actively asking the United States for MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance drones to support its operations planned for the summer.

This drone has been at the top of Kyiv's wish list in recent months, which is planning operations for the summer and looking for new ways to identify Russian targets behind the front lines:

"From the first days of the war, the Reapers were a priority for Kyiv, as it sought to use them for strike and surveillance missions. But Ukraine recently rejected that request and is mostly interested in using Reaper only for intelligence, according to four people familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the new strategy.

Three industry representatives and a person familiar with the Ukrainian requests said the request has become more important for Ukraine as it looks for any way to gain an advantage on the battlefield.
