Ukraine successfully carried out the largest exchange of prisoners, as a result of which 207 defenders returned home. On the other hand, Russia got back 195 of its occupiers. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
"Ours are at home. 207 boys. We return even with all the difficulties. We remember everyone who was captured, whether a military person or a civilian. Our goal is to get everyone back. We are working on it," the head of state emphasized.
This is the largest exchange of prisoners during the entire full-scale war. The previous record was set on April 16, 2023, when 130 prisoners were freed.
Today, Ukraine successfully returned home servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service and the National Police, including privates, sergeants and officers.
The exchange included many defenders of Mariupol and soldiers who were in the zone of military operations, in particular in "Azovstal", Zmiiny Island, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Kherson and Sumy directions.
