Poland is negotiating with Ukraine to impose “very large” restrictions on the import of Ukrainian food, but Kyiv is delaying them.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Michal Kolodziejczak, in an interview with RMF FM.
“If it were up to me, I would introduce restrictions on the import of sugar, frozen raspberries and apple concentrate into Poland as soon as possible,” said Kolodziejczak.
He says that Kyiv “didn’t like” these demands, and he himself became the Ukrainians’ “first enemy in the negotiations.” Although he himself did not even participate in these negotiations.
According to Kolodziejczak, Ukraine is dragging out the negotiations, so he recommends that Minister Sekerski introduce restrictions on further production, which, "unfortunately," is still coming to Poland.
He advocated the introduction of at least 8% VAT on food products imported from Ukraine . He also stated that he would work to close the border with Ukraine.
“I guarantee it – the border will be tighter than ever before,” the deputy minister said.
It should be noted that today Polish farmers will hold large-scale protests, blocking roads across the country.
