From January 1, 2025, the maximum amount of unemployment benefits in Ukraine has been increased to 8,000 hryvnias. The State Employment Service reported this, emphasizing the importance of adapting the labor market to new conditions.
The maximum amount of benefits has been increased from UAH 7,100 in 2024 to UAH 8,000. This is due to the fact that the amount of benefits is tied to the minimum wage, which is also increasing. The new payments will allow the unemployed to retrain, undergo training, or adapt to new challenges more effectively.
The State Employment Service notes that increasing payments is not only a support for citizens, but also an investment in increasing their competitiveness in the labor market.
In addition to increasing unemployment benefits, the state is encouraging employers to create jobs for people with disabilities. The new compensation amounts to:
- up to 120 thousand hryvnias (15 minimum wages) - for the employment of persons with group I disability;
- up to 80 thousand hryvnias (10 minimum salaries) - for persons with group II disability.
These programs are designed to reduce barriers to employment for people with disabilities and increase their integration into society.
According to service representatives, last year, more than 2,000 people with disabilities were employed under this initiative. The total amount of compensation for employers amounted to 130 million hryvnias.
Experts believe that such changes will create fairer conditions in the labor market, encourage employers to be socially responsible, and provide new opportunities for people from socially vulnerable categories.
Employers can receive financial support for workplace improvements while enhancing the image of their business.
