Ukraine and Romania announced the construction of a bridge across the Tisza River, which will connect the two countries and become an important element for the development of cross-border trade and logistics in the region. The project envisages the creation of a modern transport corridor that will promote economic integration.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved an agreement with the Romanian government regarding the construction of a road border bridge across the Tisza River. This was reported by Taras Melnychuk, head of the secretariat of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction in the VRU.
"The Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Romania on the construction of a road border bridge across the Tisza River on the Ukrainian-Romanian state border between the settlements of Bila Tserkva (Ukraine) and Sziget-Marmacia (Romania), signed on October 18, 2023, was approved. Kyiv", wrote the statesman in his Telegram channel.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the bridge will speed up the movement of people and goods across the border and will have a positive effect on the export opportunities of our country.
The media reported in 2022 that Romania wants to build a new bridge to Ukraine across the Tisza. In September, the acting head of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration, Myroslav Biletsky, said that they want to finish building the bridge in January 2025.
Ukrainian-Romanian relations
Romania is actively helping Ukraine in its fight against the Russian Federation. In October, UNIAN reported that Kyiv received the Patriot anti-missile defense system, which was presented to it by the Romanian side.
Earlier, Bucharest said it would hand over the complex on the condition that the allies replace it with the same one.
Cooperation between Ukraine and Romania may be shaken by the presidential election, in which the far-right and pro-Russian candidate Celin Georgescu won a relative majority of the vote in the first round.
Later, experts came to the conclusion that due to the elections in Romania, Ukraine may find itself in the blockade of Moscow-friendly countries.
