The General Director of the Joint-Stock Company "Ukrainian Defense Industry" Herman Smetanin reported that the production of military equipment in Ukraine has increased threefold, and in some areas - even dozens of times.
“Through the efforts of our enterprises, the production volumes of military equipment have increased threefold. For this year, we have no less ambitious plans – to increase production with the same dynamics. In some areas – even dozens of times, in others – less, depending on the needs of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he explained.
Smetanin also noted that enterprises of the defense-industrial complex are increasingly actively switching to the production of NATO-caliber ammunition. “Ukraine has significantly increased the production of ammunition – this is the main nomenclature that the front expects. Enterprises are not only establishing and scaling up the serial production of artillery shells and mortar shells of Soviet calibers, but are also gradually switching to the production of NATO-caliber ammunition – 60-mm mortar shells,” the official added.
He also gave an example of the successful use of air defense systems developed within the framework of the Ukrainian-American project called FrankenSAM. According to him, an Iranian Shahed suicide drone was shot down from a distance of 9 kilometers.
