Ukraine is building a strong defense system along the entire front line, including the northwestern regions adjacent to the border with Belarus, as the threat currently comes from Russia and Belarus. This was stated by Yehor Chernev, member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, deputy from the "Servant of the People" party.
"We are building fortifications along the entire line, because we understand that the territory of Belarus can be used against us, as was already the case on February 24. These lines are built according to all norms of military affairs. Moreover, it is not one line of defense, but several. These are not just trenches or trenches, they are really fortifications," Chernev emphasized.
He pointed out that currently Ukraine has to face a threat from Russia and Belarus. Even though the President of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, refuses to admit his own involvement and claims that his territory was used by other forces.
"This is a rather loud call for our NATO partners, in particular for the Baltic countries. He can also tell them, they say, but I did not attack you. It's just that the Russian Federation took advantage of my territory," said the Verkhovna Rada deputy.
It is important to note that, according to the British publication The Telegraph, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun construction of a significant defensive line system aimed at stopping a possible Russian invasion. The main defense line is located 15-25 kilometers from Avdiivka, the main city of the front in eastern Ukraine, and the degree of fortification of the northern borders of Ukraine is currently 63%.
