Ukraine wants to decriminalize porn

People's Deputy of Ukraine Danylo Hetmantsev announced his intention to seek inclusion of a bill on the decriminalization of pornography on the Verkhovna Rada agenda. According to him, the current legal framework, which equates the commercial creation of pornographic content to a criminal offense, is outdated and does not correspond to modern realities.

“59 million hryvnias of personal income tax and military duty have been paid. This is very important money for the country in the war, and we are grateful to the girls for their responsible position and contribution to the victory,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Hetmantsev noted that the fact that the models did not pay their taxes on time cannot be grounds for criminal prosecution if the taxes have been paid. According to him, law enforcement officials share this approach.

“Especially regarding the prosecution under Article 301 of the Criminal Code (“Import, manufacture, sale and distribution of pornographic objects” – UNIAN). It seems to me that the festival of hypocrisy, when society “morally condemns” with one hand, and with the other takes money for the army, or when content creators are persecuted by its users, must be ended,” the deputy wrote.

He added that he would insist on including his colleagues' bill to decriminalize this article on the parliamentary agenda.

Decriminalization of pornography – what is known

In November, a bill was registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for the abolition of criminal liability for the filming and distribution of intimate videos by adults.

According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, according to the draft law, criminal liability will remain exclusively for porn without consent (revenge porn, deep fake), extreme porn (violence, bestiality, necrophilia), and porn with children and distribution among children.
