Ukrainians will traditionally switch to winter time in October 2025. Despite repeated attempts to cancel the seasonal clock change, the relevant law has not yet come into force, so the rules remain unchanged.
The clocks will be changed on the night of October 25 to 26. At 04:00 Kyiv time, Ukrainians will turn their clocks back one hour to 03:00. This means that the night will become one hour longer, but the daylight hours in winter will be shorter. This time change allows you to start the working day earlier and save electricity in the morning hours.
It is worth recalling that daylight saving time (EEST, UTC+3) in Ukraine begins on the last Sunday of March. In 2025, this transition took place on March 30, and next year it is scheduled for March 29, 2026.
The issue of canceling seasonal time changes in Ukraine is not the first time that it has been raised. Back in 2020, the Verkhovna Rada developed bill No. 4201 on the refusal to change clocks. In 2024, the document was even adopted in the second reading, but it has not yet been signed by the president. Until this happens, Ukrainians will continue to live according to the old schedule.
Doctors emphasize that the time change affects a person's biorhythms. Because of this, many people have difficulty adapting, sleep worsens, fatigue and irritability appear. According to WHO, after changing the clocks, the number of cases of anxiety and depression increases.
To make it easier to survive the time change, doctors recommend a few simple steps: go to bed and wake up at a stable time, ventilate the bedroom, avoid alcohol, heavy meals, and gadgets before bed. An evening walk or light stretching will also help.
So, on the night of October 25 to 26, Ukrainians will set their clocks back one hour. Until the state makes a final decision on canceling this practice, it is worth preparing your body in advance for the transition to winter mode.
