Against the background of growing tension in the east of Ukraine and delays in the delivery of military aid from allies, Ukraine is forced to postpone plans for a large-scale counteroffensive or recapture lost territories from Russia until next year.
The New York Times writes about it. Interlocutors of the publication confirm that the delivery of the aid promised at the NATO summit in the form of missiles, combat vehicles, ammunition and air defense equipment from the USA and European countries to the front line will take weeks, if not months. Some of the announced weapons have not even been purchased or produced yet.
A senior US Defense Department official told the NYT that the Ukrainians will continue to be on the defensive for the next six months, but in constant movement on the battlefield, which "will ultimately prevent them from making significant gains."
