Ukrainian passport services abroad are increasingly refusing to issue passports to Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and over who are not on military service. This is reported by the "Sudovo-Yurydychna Gazeta" , referring to the number of complaints from citizens.
This also applies to the boys who left before the Russian invasion, who at that time were not supposed to be registered with the CCC due to their age.
This situation was discussed at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on youth and sports with Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chornohorenko.
It was planned that boys from the age of 17 would be able to register online, and from the age of 16, their data would be entered into "Oberig" automatically when applying for a passport. But so far, it doesn't work that way.
The committee reported that passport services officially explain the refusals by the lack of a “technical possibility” to transfer information about the person to “Oberig.” According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, documents were accepted for processing only for 9 people who do not have an entry in “Oberig.”.
Deputies say this encourages boys to obtain temporary documents from foreign countries.
Chornogorenko stated that the Ministry of Defense "expects the General Staff to decide what to do with Ukrainians who have gone abroad and have violated registration rules.".
