On January 17, 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention of an official of Ukrzaliznytsia, who, through her husband, who is fighting on the side of the Russian occupiers, was passing information to the Russian FSB regarding the military echelons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A woman who held the position of chief accountant of one of the branches of Ukrzaliznytsia in the Poltava region used her access to official documents to collect intelligence information. She transmitted data on the timing, routes, and specifics of military cargo trains, including heavy equipment, artillery, and ammunition, which were transported by rail.
The enemy paid special attention to cargoes transporting advanced military equipment and other strategically important resources. To do this, the official actively used her connections among colleagues and documentary sources to which she had access to obtain even more information. At first, she transmitted data through a man who participated in hostilities in eastern Ukraine, and later established direct contact with a curator from the FSB.
The Security Service of Ukraine has taken comprehensive measures to ensure the security of the routes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and has also documented the criminal actions of the detainee. The woman has already been reported for suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: high treason under martial law and justification of Russian aggression.
The detainee is being held without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. At the same time, it is planned to indict her husband in absentia.
