President Zelensky's office is not allowing opposition MPs to travel abroad, Holos MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said in an interview with the Page.
“How do you evaluate the work of Ukrainian parliamentarians in the US?”
Zheleznyak replied that the choice of deputies was a little strange, but the problem is that due to some stupid position, the Ukrainian People's Party is currently not allowing deputies to the United States.
“Recently, the American embassy in Ukraine asked deputies, including me, to join us to go to Washington, talk to Republicans, explain the budget in figures, why it is important, plus work in regions where, accordingly, the voters of these Republicans are and where it is important to have this connection. As far as I know, some people have already bought tickets, but no one has been released. The second example. As I said, I head an important direction - this is interaction with the IMF and the World Bank. I have a personal invitation in mid-April to go to the IMF Spring Meeting in Washington, form a delegation there and make speeches. In addition, everyone asked to meet with various Think Tanks. This trip is now blocked, because most of the people who were on the delegation's letter did not vote for the Tatar version (of the bill on) the Bureau of Economic Security.”.
“So no MP can leave the country now without permission from the President’s Office?”
“Yes! I claim that every business trip, after everything is signed, then goes to the President’s Office for approval. As far as I know, they approve it at a very high level there. Now the story has taken a rather unpleasant turn. As I noted, in the last two weeks, the OP decided to tie voting or not voting to whether you will be allowed to travel or not. Tying it to voting is pure political influence. This is documented. This is unlawful. In my opinion, this is also a violation of the law, including criminal law. We have collected these examples and passed them on to our international colleagues. It seems to me that soon we will take this toy from the careless hands of the President’s Office. I have already given this letter to the right place. I think that soon, nicely, politely, in English, maybe a little French, people from the President’s Office will be explained how it works.”.
