The son of Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria Olesia Ilashchuk has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old Ukrainian in Vienna. The diplomat confirmed this in a comment to Ukrinform, calling for not politicizing the situation and adhering to the principle of the presumption of innocence.
Ilashchuk stressed that the assessment of the situation should be based solely on official data and court decisions, and not on assumptions. She emphasized that her son is an adult citizen of Ukraine, has full civil capacity and is undergoing all procedural actions provided for by law. The diplomat called not to link her son's status with her diplomatic activities.
According to media reports, one of the suspects in the case is 19-year-old Bohdan Ryzhuk, the son of Chernivtsi businessman Ivan Ryzhuk. Olesya Ilashchuk's declarations list him as her son, but media reports indicate that she is his stepmother.
As a reminder, on November 26, the body of a 21-year-old Ukrainian was found in the back seat of a burned-out car in Vienna. The deceased is the son of Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv, Serhiy Kuzmin. On December 2, Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained two men, aged 19 and 45, who are suspected of murder. According to reports, they are not planning to extradite them to Austria, but Ukraine has asked the Vienna police to transfer the criminal case.
