From today, drivers who transport passengers in Poland using the Uber or Bolt apps must have a valid Polish driver's license.
According to Robert Opas, spokesman for the Traffic Bureau of the Main Police Command, the change in rules is designed to improve safety and prevent drivers without Polish licenses from making money from transporting people.
“Driving licenses issued in Poland are in our databases. Therefore, the police can easily find out whether the driver has a license,” said a spokesman for the Polish department.
Krzysztof Urban, Managing Director of the Free Now service in Poland, assured that most foreigners do not have to take additional exams in Poland.
“Most taxi drivers working in Poland are from three countries: Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia. These countries receive Polish driving licenses on the basis of their replacement after confirmation,” he explained.
