Ukrainian soldiers at the front discovered shortcomings of Abrams tanks

According to Business Insider, American Abrams tanks have proven ineffective in the conflict in Ukraine. Russian forces, using a variety of strategies and weapons, were able to effectively counter these "high-tech" armored vehicles, which led to significant losses among the equipment.

In an interview with the publication, a tanker of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign "Zakon" admitted that Russian drones remain a "huge threat" to the Abrams. Even the electronic warfare equipment installed on it does not save the armored vehicle from attacks.

However, according to the Ukrainian, UAVs are not the only danger that American armored vehicles face. The Abrams is an “easy target” for weapons that are often used in combat, in particular anti-tank missiles and rocket launchers.

Zakon noted that the Abrams is capable of “withstanding hits.”
At the same time, he emphasized that the tanks are in dire need of enhanced protection, including dynamic systems such as the ARAT-1 or the Soviet counterpart, Kontakt-1.

Another problem remains the number of vehicles. The US has supplied the Ukrainian Armed Forces with only 31 Abrams, of which at least ten have already been destroyed, so they cannot be used as breakthrough tanks, but play a supporting role to support and strengthen defensive positions, Business Insider notes.
