Ukrainian hackers reported a major cyberattack on the Russian network of payment terminals "Evotor", which led to the termination of their work throughout the territory of Russia. This incident, which occurred on the eve of the New Year, led to serious interruptions in the operation of the payment system and made it difficult for Russian residents to make cashless payments during New Year's shopping.
According to information published in Telegram by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the shutdown of "Evotor" could have a significant impact on the Russian economy. In many Russian establishments, such as shops, cafes and hairdressers, which use these terminals, it was impossible to make card payments.
In the Telegram channel of the "Evotor" company, Russians began to express their dissatisfaction, complaining about communication problems. People pointed out non-working bonus programs and services at cash registers.
This cyber attack was another attack by Ukrainian hackers on the Russian infrastructure. Earlier, they already paralyzed the operation of one of the largest ERP systems in Russia - "1C-Rarus". "One of Russia's leading ERP systems stopped working due to attacks by the Ukrainian IT Army. Clients could not use accounting services and work at full capacity. All thanks to our cyber troops," the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine said in a statement.
