At the same time, Ukrainian employers are raising salaries for their employees. The goal is to retain staff and attract new highly qualified employees in the face of a shortage of labor resources in the country. In particular, the average salary in vacancies on job sites increased in July 2024 to 19,553 UAH - from about 17,000 at the beginning of the year.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the level of wages in 2023-2024 continues to be influenced by factors from 2022 - the consequences of active hostilities in a significant territory of Ukraine. In particular:
- temporary loss of a significant territory;
- destruction of infrastructure and enterprises (or their damage, which led to the cessation of activities);
- significant permanent disruption to logistics;
- a significant number of able-bodied people abroad and in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, “which creates significant structural imbalances in the labor market.”.
However, it is noted that Ukrainians themselves want to earn even more. Thus, the average salary they indicate in their resumes is 20,414 UAH.
