The first group of Ukrainian pilots successfully completed basic training in the Royal Air Force of Great Britain and began training to fly F-16 fighters in Denmark, the press service of the British government reports.
In August, basic training began, including learning English. Six experienced Ukrainian pilots successfully completed their training, and another ten trainee pilots remained in Britain for further training and mastery of aviation medicine and centrifuge training.
Grant Shapps, Secretary of Defense of Great Britain, expressed pride in the support provided by the Royal Air Force to Ukrainian combat pilots and crews, emphasizing their role in protecting Ukraine's airspace.
The British training program aims to give pilots the skills they need to continue working on Western fighter jets and bring them up to NATO standards.
Pilots who completed basic flight training practiced in Grob Tutor aircraft, learning general handling procedures, instrument piloting, level navigation and formation flying. After completing their training in Britain, they will continue their training in other European countries to improve their flying skills.
Dozens of Ukrainian aviation technicians also receive English language training focused on engineering specialties.
