In January-August 2025, Ukrainian seaports processed 134,191 TEU of containers, which is 3.3% more than in the same period in 2024. This is the highest figure since the beginning of the full-scale war, according to the Association of International Forwarders of Ukraine.
For the entire year 2024, the ports handled 129,902 TEU. The structure of transportation in January-August 2025 looks like this: export – 66,892 TEU, import – 63,042 TEU, transit – 4,257 TEU.
AMEU Chairman Viktor Berestenko noted that more than 60% of value-added cargo and finished products pass through Baltic ports. He also emphasized that efforts are still needed to restore pre-war transshipment volumes.
"The goal is 200,000 TEU. But we still need to work to reach the figure of 1,048,691 TEU in 2021," Berestenko added.
The Association of International Freight Forwarders emphasizes the importance of optimizing customs procedures for transit and import, as well as accelerating cargo processing for further growth in container turnover.
