On the night of November 9, 2024, Ukraine was subjected to a massive attack by enemy drones: the enemy launched 51 strike drones, including Iranian “Shahed” and unidentified aircraft. The main blow fell on the Odessa region, but the threat also spread to other regions of the country, creating a danger to critical infrastructure and civilians.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, the defenders successfully destroyed 32 drones over eleven regions. Among them are Odesa, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Ternopil regions. Another 18 drones that were recorded in Ukrainian airspace were lost during the raid, as they went out of sight of Ukrainian air defense systems.
The night air battles once again demonstrated the ability of Ukrainian air defense to protect the country from new threats. Ukrainian forces effectively repelled the attack, ensuring the safety of key facilities and the population under martial law. This achievement demonstrates both the importance of modern air defense systems and the skill of the Ukrainian military.
Despite the aggressor's efforts, the strength of the Ukrainian defense remains strong, as daily trials only sharpen the experience of Ukrainian soldiers, who continue to hold the defense and prepare for new challenges.
