An earthquake was recorded in Ukraine on September 28. The tremors, measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale, occurred at 9:46 p.m. in the Lviv region, near the city of Stryi. The Main Center for Special Control reported this.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 4 kilometers. According to the classification, such tremors are considered weak. The seismological center emphasized that the tremors did not pose a threat to the population, but were recorded by specialized observation devices.
This is not the only earthquake that occurred that day. Earlier, at 12:59, the GTSK registered seismic activity in the western part of Turkey. The tremors occurred at a depth of 12 kilometers, and the earthquake's magnitude was 5.4. According to the international classification, this is already a strong earthquake. Data about it was transmitted to the central government bodies of Ukraine and international seismological centers. This year, seismic activity in different regions of the world is attracting special attention from scientists. For example, on the Greek island of Santorini in 2025, more than 28 thousand tremors were recorded in just a few weeks. Thanks to the latest artificial intelligence algorithms, scientists managed to identify the main sources of such activity.
As a reminder, on September 29, the first snow fell in the Ukrainian Carpathians, and the temperature in the mountains dropped to -3 degrees. At the same time, weather forecasters predict rain throughout the country, but frost is not expected yet.
