Ukrainian society is tolerant of corruption – Podoliak

Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak expressed concern about the attitude of Ukrainian society towards corruption, noting that the country has a tolerance for corruption at various levels. He said this in an interview, emphasizing the paradoxical situation when citizens can speak out against corruption in words, but in practice they themselves contribute to its spread.

“The citizens of the country are still, let me be frank, tolerant of corruption. This is a problem that we face at all levels of society,” said Podoliak. He noted that even if Ukrainians publicly condemn corruption, their actions often contradict these declarations.

In particular, the advisor emphasized that many Ukrainians, seeking a quick solution to their problems, offer bribes to officials and officials. This, according to Podoliak, undermines the effectiveness of anti-corruption initiatives and hinders the fight against corruption at the systemic level.

"There is a paradoxical situation when people do not support corruption in words, but encourage its development in practice. This is a big problem that requires radical changes in the consciousness of society," added Podoliak.
