Ukrainian athletes will receive increased prizes for the medals of the 2024 Olympics

The head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Vadym Gutzait, has announced a significant increase in awards for Ukrainian athletes who will win medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

According to the new standards, Ukrainian Olympians will receive the following amounts for medals:

  • Gold medal — 125 thousand dollars.
  • Silver medal — 100,000 dollars (previously it was 80,000 dollars).
  • Bronze medal — 80 thousand dollars (instead of 55 thousand dollars).

Taking into account all bonuses and medals, Ukrainian athletes will earn:

– 205 thousand dollars: Olga Kharlan (fencing, in the photo);
– 125 thousand dollars: Oleksandr Khizhnyak (boxing), Yaroslava Maguchih (high jump), Yuliya Bakastova, Alina Komaschuk, Olena Krovatska (all – fencing);
– 100,000 dollars: Parviz Nasibov (Greco-Roman wrestling), Lyudmila Luzan and Anastasia Rybachok (both rowing), Iryna Kolyadenko (freestyle wrestling), Serhii Kulish (shooting), Ilya Kovtun (gymnastics);
– 80 thousand dollars: Zhan Beleniuk (Greco-Roman wrestling), Iryna Gerashchenko (high jump), Mykhailo Kohan (hammer throw).

The total amount of payments is 1.67 million dollars.

The biggest payouts at the Olympics in China are $770,000 each and free public transport for the rest of their lives.
