Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok and her French mixed doubles partner Sadio Doumbia have withdrawn from the Australian Open. The pair were scheduled to play in the first round against Australian Ellen Perez and German Kevin Kravitz, but did not take to the court. The reasons for this decision are not yet known.
Despite giving up the mixed doubles, Lyudmila Kichenok continues to demonstrate a high level in doubles. In a duet with Zhang Haoqin from Chinese Taipei, the Ukrainian reached the third round, having won a convincing victory over the British Harriet Dart and the Frenchwoman Diane Parry with a score of 6:0, 6:3.
This success was special for Kichenok: she won her 50th Grand Slam doubles title. This achievement is unique among Ukrainian tennis players and underlines her status as one of the most successful representatives of Ukraine in tennis.
Lyudmila Kichenok has a number of outstanding achievements under her belt. In 2024, she became the US Open doubles champion and a finalist at the Australian Open. Her consistent results at Grand Slam tournaments have cemented her reputation as one of the best doubles players in the world.
