A new magnetic storm is forecast for Earth on Tuesday, August 19, which could affect people's well-being and the operation of technical systems. The forecast was published on the portal of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
According to scientists, the geomagnetic activity index (Kp-index) will reach the level of Kp 5 this day. This corresponds to a small magnetic storm, but already at the "red" level of danger.
For Ukraine and other countries in the UTC+3 time zone, the storm will be felt from six in the morning to noon.
Experts warn that there is a small chance of a radio outage of level R1–R2 (minor–moderate) at this time. In addition, during geomagnetic storms, people may experience:
-
headache, fatigue, irritability;
-
exacerbation of cardiovascular problems;
-
deterioration in concentration.
Doctors advise getting more rest, drinking enough water, and avoiding overexertion on days of increased solar activity.
The greatest activity of the Sun this month was observed from August 7 to 14. In particular, on August 8, a powerful storm of the Kr 6 level covered the Earth, which is one of the high indicators. The next day, the index decreased to Kr 5, but remained in the "red" risk zone.
