Ukrainians will be able to receive over 30 new medicines through the “Affordable Medicines” program

In 2025, the Affordable Medicines program will receive a significant expansion, in particular, its funding will increase to UAH 6.6 billion. From January 1, Ukrainians will face a number of changes - the addition of more than 30 new drugs, which will allow expanding access to medical products for the treatment of various diseases. By August 2025, all pharmacies in Ukraine must join this initiative, which will make the program accessible to all citizens of the country.

One of the main innovations is the expansion of the list of available drugs, which will include drugs for the treatment of glaucoma, metabolic and inflammatory diseases, as well as for pain relief and palliative care. The program will also include medications for children - drops, ointments and antibiotics for the treatment of infectious diseases.

"This is an unprecedented step by the government, as from January 1, we will add more than 30 active substances to the program, which will double the number of available drugs, which currently number about 600," said Natalia Husak, head of the National Health Service of Ukraine, during the telethon.

The “Affordable Medicines” program is not aimed at the social status of patients, but at specific diagnoses. This means that access to medicines will be guaranteed to all Ukrainians, regardless of their social status or place of residence. Special attention is paid to medicines for children, which will allow providing the younger generation with the necessary medicines to combat various diseases.

To obtain medication, there is no need to overcome complex bureaucratic barriers - it is enough to have a prescription from a family or attending physician. This greatly facilitates the process of obtaining medication, giving citizens more opportunities to meet their medical needs.

A total of UAH 6.6 billion will be allocated to the Affordable Medicines program in 2025, which is a significant increase compared to the previous year, when UAH 5 billion was used to implement the program. This will ensure wider access to life-saving medicines for millions of Ukrainians.
