Ukrainians go to cafes less often, but spend more

Poster has published the results of a study of the Ukrainian restaurant market for the first half of 2025. The analysis is based on data from 8,800 establishments in all regions of the country.

Total revenue in the catering sector increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2024. Lviv became the leader in terms of growth rates, where the indicator increased by 7%.

However, the increase in revenue was not due to an increase in the number of guests, but due to an increase in prices. Attendance at Ukrainian restaurants and cafes decreased by 9%. Only traffic in sushi establishments remained stable, while in other formats the decline ranged from 7% to 16%.

The average check increased by 17% and now amounts to 171 hryvnia. The dynamics by category looks like this:

  • bars — 476 UAH (+17%),

  • coffee shops — 108 UAH,

  • cafe — 307 UAH,

  • restaurants — 675 UAH,

  • pizzerias — 324 UAH,

  • bakeries — 82 UAH,

  • sushi — 670 UAH.

CEO and co-founder of Poster Rodion Yeroshek explains: “In general, the figures show that your favorite coffee or dinner at a restaurant has become more expensive: you now have to pay more for the same orders.”
