The year 2024 was a landmark year for the State Migration Service of Ukraine: almost 2.63 million foreign passports and over 1.32 million ID cards were issued during the year. Such indicators indicate the activity of citizens in the production of official documents.
Document processing: what is known?
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2024, migration service specialists achieved the following results:
- International passports: 2,630,000 documents issued.
- ID cards: over 1,320,000 produced.
- Residence permits: over 17,000 temporary and almost 9,000 permanent permits issued.
- Citizenship of Ukraine: 7,883 people received it by birth or territorial origin; another 60 people became citizens by presidential decree.
Countering illegal migration
In the field of migration control, the migration service also showed significant results:
- 3,058 irregular migrants were identified .
- Protection was granted to 53 people who applied for asylum in Ukraine.
For comparison, over 2.7 million international passports and over 1.4 million ID cards were issued in 2023. Although the numbers are similar, there was a decrease of 70 thousand international passports and 80 thousand ID cards issued in 2024.
The growth in the number of documents issued indicates high demand among Ukrainians, who are increasingly choosing convenient and modern ways to obtain documents. Thanks to the digitalization and optimization of the registration processes, citizens gain access to services faster and more efficiently.
