Ukrainians are tired of the war, but there will be no compromises with Russia, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, told Politico.
“People may say they are tired, but if you ask them if they want to compromise with Russia, they will say resolutely ‘no.’ And the fact that people are staying in Ukraine with their families is confirmation that the general mood of the people is still strong,” the head of the OP said.
At the same time, he said that "people are complaining, and we hear it from regional governors and from the people themselves.".
“Of course, it is quite natural that people are tired: two years is a long time,” Yermak said. But, he believes, “people still believe in our victory.”.
As an example of such faith, he cited his 77-year-old mother, who has a trident tattooed on her shoulder. According to Yermak, “Ukraine is as brave as my mother.”.
However, as the publication writes, "the question of shaky morale permeated the extensive interview with Yermak.".
According to the head of the President's Office, an agreement with Moscow is absolutely impossible now and Ukraine will not make any compromises regarding territorial integrity with Moscow.
“The Russians are not interested in any negotiations. They want Ukraine to surrender. But that will never happen – all of us who are in Ukraine will not accept any compromises on our independence, our territorial integrity, our freedom. And this president will never go for anything like the Minsk agreements or a frozen conflict. No, I am sure of that,” he added.
At the same time, according to Yermak, Zelensky understands that a new large-scale mobilization does not have the support of the people. According to him, Syrsky “believes that additional troops on the front line can be provided by transferring logistics personnel to the front.”.
“However, some senior Ukrainian military officials are skeptical of this proposal and argue that Ukraine needs a large-scale conscription,” Politico adds.
